“The more things change, the more they stay the same”. This saying has never been more accurate, especially yesterday at our 10 years gathering reunion. Many did not come, but there was a sufficient number to recreate a ghost of what was our daily interactions at school. The same “cliques”, groups and alliances… For fleeting seconds, I was transported back to that blessed period, while patrolling the halls and rooms that witnessed our passing by accompanied by my childhood friend Rita Kamel.
We could remember every stone, corner and tree… Our “throne” were we spent lots of our time reading our story books, our “Mur de la Desolation” where we used to bash the heads of our bullies and professors, and the next teenaged melodramatic event that used to upset us…
I even had the nostalgia of the most hated and dreaded “tour de Champville”, especially since yours truly and sports do not usually mix well…
All of this made me acutely aware of the decade that has passed by, and how fleetingly fast i have reached my 28th year… A decade is a lifetime after all… And while being painfully aware that time can never flow backwards, those very few seconds where the school bells rang, the cries and laughs of hundreds of students filled the air and the sun basked the playing courts never felt more desired and welcomed…
So even if it is ten years late, i can truly say “Than you Champville”
